The war in Gaza has "completely obliterated" health system there, and the right to health has been decimated at "every level," a United Nations (UN) expert said on Monday.

Tlaleng Mofokeng, UN special rapporteur on the right to health, informed journalists in Geneva that "this has been a war on the right to health from the beginning, as well as underlying determinants of health."

Mofokeng said that "the health system in Gaza has been completely obliterated and the right to health has been decimated at every level."

The UN expert also cautioned that there is a possibility that mental health issues could appear in the future among the residents of Gaza as a result of the ongoing conflict.
